ABOUT ME:
Greetings,
My name is Jolina Ha Than, and I am turning 50 years old this year. To celebrate my entering the Golden age, I decided to do something that I love: share my love of music with others.
Throughout my life, I have collected thousands of musical tracks from around the world. Though Vietnamese music dominates my collection, I love weaving it with music from different cultures from various parts of the globe. Despite my love of music, singing has taken the back seat to my design career as well as producing Vietnamese fine art, some of which has been featured in the Museum of Art& Design of NY City in 2009. Success in these areas heightens my fear of failure when it come to singing.
To my pleasant surprise, I discovered the Thuy Nga Entertainment group 's V-Star singing Talent show - was available for all to participate. Imagine my joy, I jumped at the opportunity to prove myself not only to my dearest friends and family, but to the world: everyone, regardless of age and appearance, has potential to display their talents and be discovered if given a good, equal chance with the right people, at the right place, and the right time.
As to my selection of song, I decided to transform on my own the classic song "Memory" from the Broadway musical CATS into Vietnamese lyrics, my hopes are that, for the first time, my audience will take great joy and find a beautiful deeply meanings of this song into a different cultural lens. The song has inspired me as well as the rest of the world, and I wanted to use it to inspire within our Vietnamese culture.
My desire to sing music that is close to my heart, as well as showcase my appreciation of some of my favorite musicians, has made me realize that music is a work of art—art that which is related to my everyday creations. My life truly revolves around art.
I love what I do. Now, I do what I love!
Allow me to take this opportunity to thank all for taking your valuable time giving me your kind support.
I hope to see you out there.
